Deep Facials at Home

HOME FACIALS

NO TIME TO GO TO THE SALON?

DO YOUR OWN FACIALS, IT IS JUST AS EFFECTIVE

Facials are usually done in the salon but you can do this equally well at home.

If you are keen on doing it yourself, here are step by step instructions. Try it once a month for deeper cleansing and to see improvements in your skin tone. It will make a difference to your complexion.

There are essentially 6 steps. Before beginning, remove your make-up.

CLEANSE

Use a non-lathering cleanser.

•Apply the cleansing cream over your face.

•Massage in circular movements over the face and neck.

•Leave it on for a few minutes to dissolve dirt, grime, stale make-up and oils.

•Gently wipe off with cotton pads. Do not drag the sensitive skin around the eyes.

•Rinse off with lukewarm water.

STEAM

Steaming hydrates and softens the skin. It will help to soften the plugs that cause whiteheads and blackheads.

After steaming, the whiteheads and blackheads can be more easily removed with a mask.

Use the following steps to do steaming at home.

•Drape a towel over your head.

•Fill a sink or wash basin with hot boiling water.

•Lean over the top of the basin (about 20 cm away) to capture the steam.

•Do this for 5 - 10 minutes.

•Pat the face dry with a clean tissue or soft towel.

•Cover your fingers with tissue paper before removing any blackheads, gently.

Do you have broken veins or sensitive skin? Skip this step.

Electric facial steamers can also be used.

EXFOLIATE

Scrubs contain abrasives in a cream or detergent base. They will scrub away accumulated dead cells that make the skin appear dull and lusterless. This will leave your face softer and smoother.

Facial scrubs for acne or oily skins are usually formulated in a detergent base.

Those for dry skin are formulated in a creamy base with some added oils.

•Use warm water to make your face damp.

•Massage the face gently with a blob of scrub using your fingertips. Do this in circular motions for about 1 – 2 minutes. Avoid the eye area where the skin is delicate.

•Rinse with warm water.

Skip this step if you have broken veins.

FACIAL MASK

Do you have oily skin? Choose a clay-based mask.

Do you have a normal or dry skin? Choose a moisturizing one.

•Smooth on a facial mask.

•Leave the mask on for about 15 – 30 minutes. Check the instructions specified on the product. You should follow the length of time as given.

•Lie down after applying the mask and relax. You can apply cool eye pads if you like.

•Use warm water to rinse away the mask.

•To finish, splash some cool water. This will help to close the skin’s pores and refresh the face.

•Use a soft towel to pat the skin dry.

TONE

Do you have dry skin? Choose a mild alcohol-free toner.

•Pour some facial toner onto a cotton pad.

•Smooth over the skin. Pay attention to oily areas, in particular the T-zone on the forehead, chin and nose.

MOISTURIZE

•Dot some moisturizers on your skin.

•Smooth it over the skin.

•Massage slowly with circular movements your skin. This will boost blood circulation resulting in a brighter complexion and reducing puffiness.

•Apply a small amount of eye cream around the eyes.

•Gently pat it in with your ring finger. The tapping action helps relieve puffy eyelids and also stimulates the acupressure points around the eyes.

When You're In-Love With A Beautiful Woman (Dr. Hook inspired).wmv

For Thicker, more Gorgeous Hair

•Use a mild shampoo with natural ingredients.

To prevent hair loss, avoid any shampoo with Sodium Laureth Sulfate as one of the ingredients. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a chemical that may be found in shampoo to lift trapped dirt and oil.

•2
Eat protein rich foods to make your hair grow. Ie. eggs, cheese, beans, nuts, yogurt and milk. A good amount of protein in your diet combined with the needed amount of exercise and sleep will result in a fuller and thicker hair follicles appearing in your scalp.

Include foods rich in B vitamins like peas, cauliflower, nutritional yeast and carrots. Eat plenty of foods high in biotin like oats, brewer' s yeast, brown rice, bulgur, lentils, green peas, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts. You also need essential fatty acids like flaxseed, borage, primrose, and salmon because the oil taken from them can thicken hair texture and stimulate hair growth.

•3
Use olive oil. Through proper application, it will also regrow your hair. Pure olive oil is the best to use for hair treatments. Avoid heating up the olive oil so that you won't damage the good fat in it. You only need to gently pour the pure olive oil over the hair while you're in the shower.

Next, spread the oil from your scalp to ends of your hair. Be sure to use a wide tooth comb with rounded tips so that you will not scratch your scalp. Pin your hair up to top of the head and wrap in a towel or shower cap. Allow the oil to soak and penetrate for 20-30 minutes before rinsing your hair thoroughly.

Apply a mild shampoo and work well into hair.

Virgin coconut oil is also good to thicken and regrow hair naturally. You can just rub it into your scalp and work your way down to the tips of your hair. Leave it for at least 20-30 minutes before washing it out with your mild shampoo.

If your hair has been damaged by harmful chemicals or environment pollutants, put 3-4 drops of sandalwood, patchouli, lavender or rosemary to your conditioner after applying shampoo and leave it on your hair for 4-6 minutes. You can use any or a combination of the essential oils mentioned to thicken and regrow your hair naturally. You can apply these essential oils 2-3 times a week.

•4
Avoid exposing your hair to environmental factors that can destroy it like the sun, strong wind, pollutants and toxins. If you want to thicken and regrow your hair then prevent too much sun exposure that can make it so dry, brittle and discolored. If you want to go out then protect your hair by using a hat or umbrella.

•5
Massage your scalp with 15-25 drops of an essential oil like olive, rosemary, coconut, chamomile, jojoba, peach nut, lavender or sunflower to thicken and regrow your hair naturally. Leave any of the essential oil that you had chosen in the scalp for 25-30 minutes wrapped in a towel. Wash your hair and scalp with your mild shampoo.

Massage your scalp everyday so that it will help activate blood flow to the hair follicles that can help your hair grow. Massaging your scalp 15-20 minutes with your fingertips aids new capillaries to form making the hair follicles revitalize. It will begin to produce healthy and thicker hair as a result of the massage therapy.

•6
Drink any herbal tea once or twice a day. An herbal tea is excellent for maintaining blood circulation and healthy hair growth.

Green tea is one of the most known to provide a good and effective result. It's advisable to use loose herbs instead of those prepackaged tea bags because they easily allow hot water to completely extract the medicinal properties.

You will only place the loose herbs in a cotton tea net or tea ball and add boiling water. Allow it to soak for 15-20 minutes before drinking. You can also add lemon to it. Lemon is good because it has vitamin C that will also aid in improving scalp circulation.
